The Summer of Angels and Hammers - a sweet story about a girl who has to save her home from being condemned while her mom is in a coma.
Bluford Series - The Test and Until We Meet Again - urban series that the kids devour
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part time Indian - My top ten favorite. I loving teaching it to the kids
Lord of the Flies -Scary and haunting even after all these years. I watched the old movie and that was great, but the new one was not true to the book and also has excessive foul language and violence.

A Great and Fun Opening!!
Beautiful chemists creating make up and perfumes!! How cool is that! Wicked fun music and art combined to make a fantastic night. Addition of some great fun friends and it was magical!
Feb 10-26, 2012
A group exhibit of local women artists in a variety of mediums.
Minnesota winter: long, dark, and cold. And possibly the reason we have such a thriving arts community! In the dead of winter, we nurture the creativity, fortitude and escapism necessary to survive. The result? An unstoppable creative energy that guides us through the seasons.
Exhibit Dates: 2/10-26 (3 weekends, Fri-Sun)
Artists Reception/Shopping Event: Saturday, February 11, 2012 5-10 pm
Featuring a finely-curated selection of locally-made art, jewelry, beauty and home products, baked goods. There will be food, wine, and gift ideas for your valentine. Plus: Our very own signature handcrafted beer from Vine Park Brewery, made especially for our show!
And vinyl spinning by Minneapolitan DJ Mo, bringing her eclectic blend of dreamy vintage pop to the gallery.
Perfect timing for a bit of Valentine’s Day shopping (hint-hint) and winter escapism!

The Week
The week started of with the sudden death of my friend, Pat Fernandez. We are all heart broken at SPC. She embodied everything that is great in a woman. She was caring, compassionate, fun, and strong in her faith and family values. She always supported every educational and social activity for our class.
I will miss her so much.
Wednesday Grandma and I went to see Gary Schmidt at Children's Theater. He was a great speaker, easy going and funny. He answered my questions about MS novels and gave examples for me to try with the kids. I want to go see his play adaptation.

Thursday was the Cabi Fashion Show at Pool and Yacht with Grammy. Beautiful clothes and food. I met some fascinating women who share my love of thrift stores. Clothes are out of my price point, but always fun to go to a fashion show.

Friday was Youth Performance Company with Grammy once again and Teresa M.
Well acted and intense. A sad play, but a story that needs to be told.
Friday Night was sissie night!

Good things I've come across recently.....
Art:
Laura Toth traded paintings (Alary's) with me and I am ecstatic! Look at her work below. Superb and strong.
I am blessed to have met her, her partner and her work.
Still Winter
Reading:
The Art of Fielding by Chadharbach. I don't want it to end. How can this be his first novel? Simply brilliant!
