Day One

What I am Reading today:
The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd - Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather Brewer
www.heatherbrewer.com
GREAT!!! I have finished the 8th-10th grade year Vlad books and they are fantastic! They remind me of a cross between Harry Potter and the House of Night Series. I love House of Night, Vampire Academy, Twilight (of course) and Harry Potter so this series rocks! I think Vlad is very true to an actual teen and his experiences in Middle school and High school genuine. Since I am immersed in this middle school life all day, it seems like Vlad could live in my classroom.

New Experience: www.ymcatwincities.org
Body Vive class at the YMCA. It was fun, not too intense and not crowded at all. I like the Midway Y for their friendliness. They are always smiling and no question is stupid. They are always nice to my kids too.

What I Learned today: I was at Starbase http://www.starbasedod.com/ with the 6th grade. What an absolutely cool program. It was established to help kids learn more about science, math and engineering. I learned all about vacuums and building rockets for mars. we are working with Pro Engineer software to build rockets. The kids are absolutely engaged and thrilled to be there.

Art- I was going to work on my art crawl http://www.stpaulartcrawl.org/ project, but I need nails to strengthen them. I must get them tomorrow, but I have choir too. I have to start on the kids portraits too for 6th grade.

A good day all in all. I could be so tempted to read all day or paint in the park with my friend Mary....................................

Let's start!

I have decided that time is going by way too quickly, and I have lots in life I want to accomplish. I want to be a renaissance girl!! I use to be quite passionate about this and now it is time to reconnect with that quest.

My biggest goal this year is to improve my mind, art and soul. I want to learn as much possible about everything that is out there in the world. I want to read more, experience more culture, life and learning than I ever thought possible.

To accomplish this, my plan is to everyday: pray and reflect on my religion and my beliefs, read some type of literature, draw/paint/sculpt some type of art and document, learn something new about any topic, and have a experience that is beyond my realm of comfort.

I have to balance my life with my role as wife and mother, family, job as a teacher and artist, friends, parishioner...........it will not be easy. it will be a challenge and I am ready for it!
